Definitions, characteristics and application of the legislation
Cookies are small text files that the websites visited by users send to and store on your computer or mobile device, where they are retransmitted to the same websites when the user visits the site again.
It is thanks to cookies that a website “remembers” the actions and preferences of the user (such as, for example, login information, selected language, size of the characters, other display settings, etc.) so that this information does not have to be given again when the user returns to visit the same site or navigates between pages. Cookies, therefore, are used to perform information authentication, monitoring of sessions and storage of information concerning the activities of users that access a site, and they may also contain a unique identifier that keeps track of the user’s browsing activities inside the website for statistical or advertising purposes. While browsing on a site, the user may receive on his/her computer cookies from websites or web servers other that the one he/she is visiting (so-called third-parties cookies). Certain operations might not be possible without the use of these cookies, which in certain cases are technically necessary for functioning of the website.
There are types of cookies that vary according to their characteristics and functions, and these may remain on the computer for differing periods of time: so-called session cookies, which are automatically deleted on closing the browser; so-called persistent cookies, which remain on the user’s device until a predetermined expiry date.
Instead, for "profiling cookies", i.e. those cookies whose aim is to create user profiles that are used to send advertising messages according to their preferences expressed by them while browsing on line, the prior consent of the user is requested.
Types of cookies used by the Website
We have classified the cookies we use according to their type of use:
1) TECHNICAL COOKIES:
a. navigation or session
2) THIRD-PARTY COOKIES
1) TECHNICAL COOKIES:
a. NAVIGATION OR SESSION COOKIES
These cookies permit normal use of the website and services provided, such as, for example, to make a purchase, to be authenticated to access reserved areas or to maintain personal preferences. These types of cookies can be classified according to their lifespan on the user’s terminal: those that are automatically deleted after each browsing session are called “session cookies” (e.g. the previously mentioned on-line shopping basket). If, on the other hand, they have a longer lifespan, they are called “persistent cookies”. These cookies are indispensable for the correct functioning of the website and the prior consent of users is not requested for their installation.
These cookies are not present in the website.
b. FUNCTIONALITY COOKIES
We use these cookies to provide services or remember your settings and to improve your visit and browsing experience on our site.
